STINGS COACHING STAFF
The Stings Baseball staff is full of coaches who love developing players and people. We believe we can teach life lessons through the game of baseball, while still having fun on and off the field. We have coaches who have experience at the college and professional level, as well as 10+ years of coaching experience.
Our coaching staff will coach one team and grow with them, so they can focus fully on their team and build relationships with both players and families. We know a player's experience is only as good as their coach, so we commit our coaches to putting all their energy and focus into their one and only team.

STEVE DETWILER
President, Coach Steve
Steve is a Marin native and graduated from San Rafael High School. He was drafted in the 2006 MLB draft to the Houston Astros. He declined the offer and instead accepted a scholarship to attend Fresno State. In 2008, Steve was a key player in the Fresno State National Championship run, going 4-4 with 2 home runs, a double and all 6 RBIs in the championship game. Steve went on to play five years minor league baseball for teams across the country. After retiring from professional baseball, Steve began his coaching career at San Rafael High and later Novato High. He has coached youth baseball for 15 years and is passionate about developing young players to their highest potential.
TIM GRAYSON
Coach Tim
Tim has over 30 years of coaching experience. He has coached at all levels of baseball from youth to high school to college. Tim is the former head coach of Marin Catholic and has coached at a handful of other Marin County High Schools. He is currently assistant coach at Redwood High School. His two sons played college baseball. Tim is one of Marin Counties most respected coaches and Stings is incredibly fortunate to have him on board.
PATRICK CONROY
Coach Patrick
Patrick graduated from Archie Williams, formerly known as Drake High School. He played college baseball at College of Marin and Santa Clara University. He was later drafted to the Kansas City Royals where he pitched for the organization for three years. Patrick has over 10 years of coaching experience. He is currently the head coach at The Branson School, and has been head coach at St. Vincent de Paul and Terra Linda high schools.
JOEL BELTRAN
Coach Joel
Joel graduated from San Rafael high and played for College of Marin. Joel has been the head counselor for Stings Summers Camps the last two years and has been coaching high school and youth teams for five years.
NICK ROTH
Coach Nick
Nick graduated from Archie Williams, formerly known as Drake High. He pitched for College of Marin, University of San Francisco and Sonoma State. He coached at Archie Williams High for four years and is in his second year as an assistant at College of Marin. Nick has been coaching youth and high school teams for six years.
FRANKLIN SMITH
Coach Franklin
Franklin is a baseball coach and entrepreneur, who specialized in developing catchers and building complete players. He currently works with the many of the area's top high school and college catchers. Franklin previously coached San Rafael High, Marin Catholic and most recently College of Marin. Franklin is the founder of The Catchers Farm and Train Depot.
